2008 BBO and IBO


The First Round examinations were taken in schools in late January. This year for the first time examinations were offered on-line, in a sponsorship deal with the Open University.

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded on the results of the First round as well as Highly Commended and Commended. A full list of winners can be found here.

The Second Round paper was offered to the top 40 scorers.

The top twelve were selected from the combined scores of both papers and were invited to the 2008 finals. These took the form take a series of practical tests, together with some training, in the School of Biosciences at the University of Birmingham from April 1st – 3rd.

The 2008 Award Ceremony was held at Imperial College London on 7th July.

The four students who gained the highest marks on the total of theory and practical examinations represented the UK at the International Biology Olympiad 2008, held in India from 13th to 20th July. The UK team was as follows:
